  • A lonely frog, desparate for any form of company telephoned the Psychic Hotline to find out what his future has in store.

His Personal Psychic Advisor advises him, "You are going to meet a beautiful young girl who will want to know everything about you."

The frog is thrilled and says, "This is great! Where will I meet her, at work, at a party?"

"No" says the psychic, "in a Biology class."

    ----

An engineer, a physicist, and a lawyer were being interviewed for a position as chief executive officer of a large corporation.

The engineer was interviewed first, and was asked a long list of questions, ending with "How much is two plus two?"

The engineer excused himself, and made a series of measurements and calculations before returning to the board room and announcing, "Four."

The physicist was next interviewed, and was asked the same questions. Before answering the last question, he excused himself, made for the library, and did a great deal of research.

After a consultation with the United States Bureau of Standards and many calculations, he also announced "Four."

The lawyer was interviewed last, and was asked the same questions. At the end of his interview, before answering the last question, he drew all the shades in the room, looked outside the door to see if anyone was there, checked the telephone for listening devices, and asked "How much do you want it to be?"

  • The Karate Kid
    quotes

Daniel: You could have killed him, couldn't you?
    Mr. Miyagi: Aiy.
    Daniel: Well, why didn't you?
Mr. Miyagi: Because Daniel, for man with no forgiveness in heart, life worse punishment than death.

Daniel-san, never put passion before principle. Even if win, you lose.

Daniel: Don't those lies bother you?
    Miyagi: No.
Daniel: Why not? people might think that they are true.
Miyagi: Lies only become true if person choose to believe.
Daniel: Is that another old Okinawa saying?
    Miyagi: No. New Okinawa saying.
    Daniel: How new?
    Miyagi: Lets see...
    [pauses, pretending to think]
    Miyagi: About ten seconds

  • Murder scene; tribute; special

Among the most heart-wrenching tributes left at the murder scene is a teddy bear holding a card with the words "Uncle Dale" written by a child and another bearing the words "Nothing stronger than a mother's love".

A tribute left among the flowers by grieving relatives says: "Today God took a life without a second thought. He took away our darling Dale whose life was sweet and short.

"He took the heart of our family now we're all so alone.

"Knowing he'll never be there to say 'Wat up' on the phone, knowing we'll never hear his voice again, knowing he'll never be there - it's such a horrible thought. It's all too much for us to bear.

"No-one knows quite what to do, like it's just one horrid nightmare - as if we're all going to wake up soon and you'll be standing there."

Shocked friends have also paid tribute to Dale on The Star's website, with one mourner describing his death as "another unnecessary tragic loss of life".

One well-wisher, described as one of Dale's close friends, said: "Dale you will be missed a great deal mate, no one will ever forget you, keep looking down on us all because we will be looking up for you."

Friend Liam Hulme, from Ecclesfield, said: "RIP Dale - can't believe you have gone.

"It's weird, keep thinking I am going to see you walk down my road with everyone.

"Gone but not forgotten - you weren't supposed to die."

Mikey T, also from Ecclesfield, said: "Sound lad - will never forget you."

A tribute from Kaz and Steve read: "Heartfelt sorrow to Dale, all his family and all his friends. So sad to see a waste of such a young life. RIP."

Reece Wilson, from Sheffield, added: "I'm so shocked that you're gone, you were one of the soundest people I know."

Dawn and Ian said he was "a great friend" and labelled his death "such a tragic waste of a young life". Ella Ov added: "You were a great mate. Never caused trouble."
